Don't Kick the Bucket - Installing a 3 bucket storage rack

See this content in the original post

With the garage now cleaned up for cool weather projects, I'm still organizing the space. Since I'm a hopeless pack rat, storage is always a problem. Nearly every square foot of wall space is taken up. Luckily, I found some space as for a sweet, new bucket storage system that's going to help.

Remember my Monkey Bars Garden Tool Rack (AKA Zombie Survival Rack )? There's a few inches of available real-estate, right below it to play with. Another Monkey Bar's product, the 3 Bucket Rack uses the same system as the Garden Tool Rack, a couple brackets and a square bar that the accessory hangers snap onto. Luckily, I simply had to transfer the measurements for the brackets from the rack above to be sure I hit studs with the big lag screws.

Yeah. I'm wearing jeans,.. in Arizona; it's down in the mid 60's in the morning and I'm a wimp.

I zapped the bracket in, just shy of tight with my impact driver.*  Keeping it loose allowed me to slap a torpedo level on it to be sure it was straight for the second screw.

* Seriously, aren't impact drivers  the absolute greatest?

With one bracket installed, I slipped the bar in and slid the second bracket up until it was level. Two more screws into the studs and the install was complete. Five minutes. Done.

Your physics lesson for the day.

I could go with plain, white buckets, filthy paint buckets, or I can give each of my local DIY hangouts a bit of free, product-placement marketing space. I guess I'm just a hell of a sweet guy like that.

It's a rainbow-coalition of hardware store love.

AZ DIY Guy is a equal opportunity bucket user Since this is placed right next to my custom compound miter saw bench, I'm using two of the buckets for small scrap wood. The other one will probably be a rag (AKA old T-shirt) bucket.

You've probably saw me destroy some of these shirts in previous projects.

Boom. There it is. A clever storage solution. I can grab my choice of a Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace Hardware bucket and deploy with it around the house. Uhhh,... that is, if I really need scrap wood or rags somewhere, I guess.

You can order the Monkey Bar 3 Bucket rack from Amazon.com or direct from Monkey Bars Website.

I saw they even make a 9 bucket wall unit. I guess I could sort my scrap wood by species with that rascal,... if I could find more wall space.

Thanks to my friends at Monkey Bars. I won this sweet rack from them in a blogging contest a while back.

What do you think? Would you find bucket based storage useful in your garage / workshop? What three stores would you visit in your area for a technicolor bucket extravaganza?
